TEHRAN (FNA)- The situation in Bagram prison in Afghanistan is much more horrible than the situation in Guantanamo prison in Cuba, two former inmates said, mentioning that the US soldiers use blasphemous words and insults to the holy Quran and Muslims prophet as a means of torturing Muslim prisoners.

The two inmates, Omar Daqayes and Moazam Beig, spoke of their pains and agonies in Bagram and Guantanamo in an interview with FNA here on Saturday.

"Americans have built up to 70 detention centers all over the world named 'the secret prisons' that are under CIA control and some of them like Bagram in Afghanistan are worse than Guantanamo", Daqayes said, adding that the US has horrible detention centers in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Morocco, Jordan, Poland, Romania and Indonesia.

Speaking about the conditions in Kandahar prison, the British citizen said, "We saw with our own eyes that Americans tossed Quran in unclean places and they repeated the action in a way that all prisoners (even) in Bagram and Guantanamo become aware of that…."

He then referred to the US detention center in Bagram, Afghanistan and added, "Insulting Quran was also common in Bagram and Americans played soccer with Quran and kicked it. You can ask everyone who has been in this prison and he will tell you that these things have occurred repeatedly."

"Sometimes they took us to the solitary (confinement) and we saw that the American forces have written insulting words in Quran, they humiliated the prisoners and insulted our God and prophet, they used religion to incite prisoners into rioting and to make them angry," Daqayes said.

Moazam Beig is another British citizen freed from Guantanamo. He had been detained in Pakistan, tortured in Kandahar and Bagram in Afghanistan and then transferred to Guantanamo Bay.

"I saw in Bagram prison that the US soldiers kicked Quran, pulled it on the ground and insulted Quran before the eyes of Muslims and I saw in Kandahar detention center that they threw it in the toilet," he lamented.
