This is the sad story about Muslims here in the new Italian Guantanamo.
I hope this letter will find you in the best of health and high spirit insha'Allah.
We are in the prison in Macomer on the island of Sardinia. This prison is situated outside the city, isolated on the mountain and this prison, Lager, is for the punishment (for Big Mafiose). This Italian government was responsible for many prisoners all around Europe and we are accusing this right wing government of being racist against immigrants and especially Muslims to hide a big problem of economic and financial crisis. It's so wrong what the world is doing to Muslims at the moment, especially in this country. The Muslims who live here in Italy can't help the Islamic prisoners because they will be arrested like terrorist suspects. The Italian Justice did not treat Islamic prisoners fairly. This is the real sad story about Italian Democracy. The prison service seems to like making life difficult for no reason. For example we are all here new since one month, the guardians have bad behaviour, the shower is not every day, to read they restrict the number of books and clothes we have. They can't go out of the cell except only one time each day. Without school, without gym, without socialising, without prayer hall for Friday, and without prayer carpet for every day. The door close 24 hours, for 24 hours. This is the real hard prison. We have nothing here.
And all in this section we are all Muslims (Algerians, Tunisians, Moroccans, Egyptians) and we are all on hunger strike because we do not have rights. Human rights are absent here. We are without the news because we are isolated. We cannot speak in the section because of the second (illegible) door. The real tragedy is that we don't receive letters from family or friends.
Lastly the Muslims' opinions is a crime in this country. You can't have a free opinion. On 2nd May 2009, afternoon, two brothers from Morocco, one went for a family phone call, one guard was threatening this brother with bad words and another brother from Algeria, one fascist guard closed the door on his hand for 25 minutes and they have not allowed us to make the decision for this fascist guard.
