Do not forget to write to the remaining prisoners in Guantanamo
21-06-2010
Former Guantanamo prisoner and Al-Jazeera journalist, Sami Al-Hajj, said: "There were very few moments in Guantanamo that would give us joy. One of those moments was when we received letters from our families; but we were even happier knowing that some - who we didn't even know - had written to us for no other reason than to show their support and care for us."

Mother's Day in the War on Terror
19-05-2010
It’s mothers day again, America, 2010. The frenzy for fragrance-free flowers will make for a hectic Sunday morning. Everyone will be a feminist for the day. Mothers will lie in bed and watch the Sunday morning talk shows while fathers juggle kids and kitchens. The TV hosts will convey child-like heart warming messages of love to their mothers followed by mind chilling warnings of terrorists plots threatening to destroy the American way of life; The narratives will be conveniently juxtaposed. Americans will be assured of their essential goodness as the cold and evil nature of the terrorist is described in painstaking detail.

It only shows that you are doing a remarkable job by being the voice of "cry justice" you were born "to be one" and your experience in Guantanamo was needed only to make you a reliable and legitimate speaker for human rights

Two Long Painful Years, and God Only Knows How Long More
03-06-2008
It all happened so fast. Broken door. Officers yelling, shouting. Babies crying. Rain. Guns in our faces. Handcuffs. Fear. Confusion. Terror. Our lives, ripped apart for the whole world to see. 18 families. 18 young men.

My Brother's Three Months in Solitary
07-04-2008
The arrest of an alleged Toronto terrorist ring on June 2, 2006, was initially hailed as an intelligence coup. Now the case seems far less clear-cut. Meanwhile, the family of one accused continues to wait – and suffer.

The Visit - A Weekly Experience That Never Gets Easier
12-12-2007
Saturday, for most people, is a great day. They sleep in and start the day after a late breakfast, and then plan for the rest of it. They look forward to: shopping, visiting, eating out- all kinds of nice moments to look forward to. Except for me, it isn’t such a great day. It is, in the matter of fact, a day of pain and desperation. It is the day of my scheduled visit to my son, Shareef, in Maplehurst correctional center; where he is detained awaiting the trial.

The ‘Wonderful’ Eid In Whitemoor
01-12-2007
In order to attend the Eid prayer and feast, Muslim inmates in Whitemoor prison had to fill in a form a few days before Eid. Normally the inmates would have been informed about Eid on the night before by a phone call from the imam to the prison. But in this case they were told at around 10am on Eid day so they had begun their Eid fasting!

Statement From Mrs. Khyam About Mistreatment of Omar Khyam in HMP Frankland
30-09-2007
Since Omar has come out of segregation, he has been admitted into the very wing where Eesa Bharot was when he got attacked. The administration at HMP Frankland have just about taken every opportunity they have had to make things difficult for Omar, and that has been the case from his first arrival at this institution. It seems that now the inmates have calmed down the bullying, but the guards themselves have picked up on this tactic of intimidation.
